12 Imams List According to Shia Asna Ashri Islam.

According to Shia Islam, the Imamate consists of 12 Imams (A.S.), also known as the Ahlul Bayt (A.S.). The lineage of the 12 Imams begins with Hazrat Ali (A.S.), the son-in-law of Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), and ends with the last Imam, Mahdi (A.S.). In Shia Islam, belief in the Imamate (A.S.) is one of the fundamental principles (Usul-e-Deen) of religion. Knowing about the Imams (A.S.) is very important in Shia Islam, and following their orders is also very important. The list of the 12 Imams (A.S.) is as follows:

  1. Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.) is the first Imam (A.S.).
    (Birth: 13 Rajab (Makkah, Hijaz)
    Martyrdom: 21 Ramadan
    Burial: Najaf, Iraq)
  2. Hazrat Imam Hassan A.S is our second Imam. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (A.S.), the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Hassan (A.S.).
    (Birth: 15th Ramadan (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 28th Safar,
    Burial: Al-Baqi’, Medina).
  3. Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is the third Imam in the line of Imamate. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hasan A.S., the Imamate was transferred to his brother Hazrat Imam Hussain A.S.
    (Birth: 3rd Sha’ban (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 10th Muharram,
    Burial: Karbala, Iraq).
    Note: Hazrat Imam Hassan A.S. and Hazrat Imam Hussain A.S. are the leaders of Paradise.
  4. Hazrat Imam Zainul Abideen (AS) is the fourth Imam in the list of Imams. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain A.S., the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Zainul-Abidin A.S.
    (Birth: 15th Jumada al-Awwal (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 25th Muharram,
    Burial: Al-Baqi’, Medina).
  5. Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) is our 5th Imam in the Imamate chain. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Zainul-Abidin A.S., the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir A.S.
    (Birth: 1 Rajab (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 25 Muharram,
    Burial: Al-Baqi’, Medina).
  6. Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS) is the sixth Imam in the Imamate. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqir A.S., the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Ja’far Sadiq A.S.
    (Birth: 17 Rabi’ al-Awwal (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 25 Muharram,
    Burial: Al-Baqi’, Medina).
  7. Hazrat Imam Musa Kazim (AS) is the seventh Imam in the Imamate. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Ja’far Sadiq A.S., the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Musa Kazim A.S.
    (Birth: 7 Safar (Madinah or Al-Abwa’),
    Martyrdom: 25 Rajab,
    Burial: Baghdad, Iraq).
  8. Hazrat Imam Ali Reza (AS) is our eighth Imam in the line of Imamate. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Musa Kazim A.S., the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Ali Reza A.S.
    (Birth: 11 Dhul-Qa’dah (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 17 Safar,
    Burial: Mashhad, Iran).
  9. Hazrat Imam Muhammad Taqi (AS) is our ninth Imam in the Imamate. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Ali Reza (A.S.), the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Muhammad Taqi (A.S.).
    (Born: 10th Rajab (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 29th Dhul-Qa’dah,
    Burial: Baghdad, Iraq).
  10. Hazrat Imam Ali Naqi (AS) is our tenth Imam. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Taqi (A.S.), the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Ali Naqi (A.S.).
    (Born: 15th Dhul-Hijjah (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 3rd Rajab,
    Burial: Samarra, Iraq).
  11. Hazrat Imam Hassan Askari (AS) is counted among our eleventh Imam. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Ali Naqi (A.S.), the Imamate was transferred to his son Hazrat Imam Hassan Askari (A.S.).
    (Born: 8th Rabi’ al-Thani (Madinah),
    Martyrdom: 8th Rabi’ al-Awwal,
    Burial: Samarra, Iraq).
  12. Hazrat Imam Mahdi (AS) is the last Imam, who is our twelfth Imam. After the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hassan Askari A.S, the Imamate was transferred to his son and the last Imam Hazrat Imam Mahdi A.S. and our last and present Imam A.S.
    (Birth: 15 Shaban (Samra Iraq).
